Was Andy Warhol right? Warhol was a 1960s American Pop-Artist. He is famous for his Marliyn Monroe screen prints and Campbell Soup Paintings. His artistic commentary on pop culture can still be seen every where and is extremely relevant today. His quote, "In the future everybody will be world famous for 15 minutes." Sounds like a preminition to social media.

Warhol knew a lot about the advertising world, as he started his career in New York City designing advertisements and magazine covers. He was bascailly a graphic designer, using branding and art to drive sales.

Warhol clearly saw the writing on the wall. He saw the influence Hollywood had on society, the beauty in the design of a simple product. He understood business, consumerism, and branding!

In 1985 Andy Warhol hosted a TV show called Andy Warhol's Fifteen Minutes where he interviewed upcoming musicians and artists, basically giving them "15 minutes of fame." He created the future in his own way, not realizing that platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube would help even the high school student in the middle of nowhere become famous for 15 minutes for posting pictures of nail polish on Instagram!

"Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art." - Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol was a true artist and business pioneer. His quotes are timeless and his influence on graphic design, society, and art are clearly relevant in today's social media space.
